– 16 Year Olds can only ride a 50cc bike and most tend to complete just the CBT.
– If you are 17 or over and want to take your full test you will, in addition to the CBT, you will need to pass your Theory Test booked though www.dsa.gov.uk. All practical test consists of two parts, Module 1 & Module 2. This is the same for all bike sizes.
Module 1. Takes about ten minutes or so, and is conducted off road at the test centre. The off road area is the size of a football pitch. During Module 1 you will complete a series of slow riding exercises, showing how you control your machine in a slow and confident manor. It will also involve a controlled stop, Emergency stop and a swerve avoidance test.
Module 2. Is all on the road, and lasts around 35-40 minutes. You will be asked to follow instructions of which you will be monitored.
Passing your test on a 125cc bike will allow you to carry a pillion passenger and ride on a motorway. You will never automatically graduate to a larger bike, and if you pass your test you will receive an A1 Licence and the power of your bike will be limited to 11kw or 14.6 bhp.
– If you are ages between 19-21 you can take your test on a bike of at least 395cc and which has a power output of no more than 35kw or 46.6bhp. This is called an A2 licence.
– Direct Access – An A Licence is for riders who are over 24 years old. (You can obtain an A licence if you have passed your A2 Licence and held it for 2 years)
*Sometimes we have trainees who have moved to us having been initially trained elsewhere, for this trainee we offer an assessment to determine suitability for moving on to one of our bigger bikes.
